Meta’s Muse agent is free to start. OpenAI’s dots are not
The Verge reports that dots are on the 100-dollar Pro plan and above, while a Meta account can get Muse.
SAN FRANCISCO — OpenAI’s dots, announced at DevDay on 29 September, are priced as a professional product. The Verge reported that they are limited for now to the 100-dollar-a-month Pro plan and above. Meta’s Muse agent, the product dots are being compared with, is available to anyone with a Meta account.
The Verge also reported two facts that matter more than the cartoon look of either agent. OpenAI chief financial officer Sarah Friar told CNBC that the company’s enterprise business had doubled since July. And Meta can connect Muse to Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp because it owns them. OpenAI said dots can connect to outside tools. That is not the same as an in-house integration.
Price decides who is allowed to try the agent. It does not decide what the agent may do. A free agent inside a consumer account and a paid agent inside an enterprise workspace can both send a message or change a file. The control questions are identical. Which account it acts as. What it may touch. Where the log is kept.
